A: A comedy writer or furniture designer. It makes no sense when you think about it because financial communications folks are probably not synonymous with funny or creative, yet here we are. 

A: That the clients I’ve media trained are the most prepared, relatable and quotable in their industries.   

A: Leaders create the culture and set the financial goals for the company. Everything they do is a form of communication. When they share information with shareholders or the public the focus  should be on the message with positive feedback on the delivery. Sometimes clothing, tone or mannerisms tell the audience a different story, which can reduce the confidence they have in leadership and the company.  Having an executive image elevation regularly is crucial for a successful career because as you move up the ladder, the people around you are less inclined to tell you the truth about yourself until it’s too late. 

A: Not at all. We support cannabis companies from ideation through the IPO process and beyond. Alternative funding has made the industry blossom. While you may not see the asset class in most traditional big firms, we are seeing it in private global portfolios and it’s interesting to watch. 

A: I meet people where they are, full stop. According to clients my strengths are humor, working well with difficult people, attention to detail and being able to get buy-in from decision-makers. The key is to understand that many people are going through personal stuff they don’t discuss so always be kind, don’t be intimidated, ask for what you want, and try not to internalize nonsense. 

A: My son. He’s everything we hoped for, but much taller than we imagined. 

A: Pasta. There’s no other answer because it includes Italian food, Asian food and the Black American dish of all dishes: spaghetti!
